Winter Field Day 2027
Date: January 23rd, 2027 - January 24th, 2027
How to Join us at Winter Field Day?
Everyone is welcome
Hey everyone, mark your calendars because Winter Field Day 2027 is approaching!
When the snow starts flying, the Warren County Radio Club turns up the heat. We’re setting up at the Queensbury Central Fire Department, making it one of our favorite weekend events of the year. Whether you're a long-time licensee, a brand new tech, or someone who just wants to see what ham radio is all about, you're invited to drop by and join us in the warm!
Even though we'll have a cozy indoor setup this year at the station, Winter Field Day is still all about sharpening our emergency comms, testing gear, and working contacts across HF, VHF, and UHF using CW, SSB voice, and digital modes. And there is a new digital mode allowed this year. It is JTTY, a new addition to WSJT-X software in update 3.2.
We’ve also got some great mobile rigs rolling out for the event. A huge thanks to the team bringing out the K3JDG communications trailer (k3jdg.org) as well as the KE2FAI YL On The Air trailer (ylontheair.com). Having these trailers parked on-site gives us serious extra operating capability, awesome dedicated operating desks, and a fantastic showcase for youth and YL operators jumping on the air.
What to expect when you drop by:
Portable antennas and trailer stations deployed right on site at Queensbury Central FD.
Active operating desks running HF, VHF, and digital modes across the airwaves.
Open operating spots—get on the air, make some contacts, or practice working new modes.
Mentorship, Elmering, and good conversation with local hams ready to answer questions.
Grab a hot mug of coffee and come hang out with the club. Let's make some noise across the bands and log some contacts together!
